Underline Science is committed to accessibility compliance, with our platform meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Shared Electronic Resource Understanding (SERU)

Underline Science actively supports and utilizes the NISO Shared Electronic Resource Understanding (SERU) framework, an innovative approach designed to streamline the subscription and access process for electronic resources. SERU offers an alternative to the often lengthy and complex negotiations typically associated with traditional licensing agreements between publishers and libraries. By adhering to SERU’s set of best practice standards, we align on shared expectations regarding access, use, and preservation of digital resources without the need for individualized license contracts. This commitment to the SERU framework emphasizes Underline's flexible approach to compliance and licensing. It significantly simplifies the process for academic and research institutions to integrate our comprehensive list of resources into their collections.

Institutions that are signatories of the SERU registry can bypass traditional licensing agreements, facilitating a more direct and efficient access agreement process. However, for institutions that prefer or require formal agreements, Underline Science is fully prepared to accommodate and accept license agreements as issued by universities or other entities. In essence, our adoption of SERU represents our dedication to removing barriers to access. It ensures that our valuable scientific content is available to the global academic community, fostering a spirit of open collaboration and shared knowledge.
