Dr. Sonwalkar is regarded as a leading expert in the application of computers in education. He has extensive research and development experience in hypermedia authoring, mobile learning, adaptive learning, and brain-based synaptic learning, advanced scientific visualization, database management systems, and computer simulation.

After receiving doctoral degree from MIT in the area of Molecular Dynamics of Nano-interfaces, he joined MIT as faculty in Mechanical Engineering, but his passion for technology enabled education led him become the founding director of Hypermedia Teaching Facility (Hypermedia Lab) at MIT and later he was appointed as the Principal Educational Architect of MIT.

In this presentation Dr. Sonwalkar is proposing a revolutionaly learning cube pedagogical framework that includes, three dimensions of learning namely -- learning media -- text, graphics, video, audio, animations; learning strategies -- apprentice, incidental, inductive, deductive and discovery, learning interactivity -- feedback, comments, interactive exercises, animated presentations and simulatons. It is important to understand the assembly of the media, models and interactivity for a target learner community.

Changing the Interface of Education: Chapter 2 - The Learning Cube

In this presentation, Dr. Sonwalkar porposes a compelling argument around rethinking the appropriate use of educational models to better serve the changing interface of education. He further also talks about the concepts of constructivism, cognitivism and behaviourism that have led to the development of the learning cube model and various learning strategies.
