SHORT BIO
I am an experimental physicist and instrumentalist working in synchrotron x-ray sources since more than 20 years. My main focus of study are the electronic and magnetic properties of solid state samples at the microscopic level and how they are affected by different parameters such as spatial confinement, strain, or interfaces. I did my PhD in the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (Berlin, Germany), studying the electronic structure of ultrathin metal films by angle resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, and a postdoc at Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste (Italy) exploring the interplay between electronic quantum size effects and surface reactivity. Since 2006 I work at the spanish synchrtron light source ALBA where I was responsible for the construction and operation of the beamline CIRCE for near ambient photoelectron spectroscopy and photoemission electron microscopy. In 2020 I joined the MISTRAL team performing full-field transmission x-ray microscopy and tomography of a variety of materials ranging from 3D magnetic nanostructures to full hydrated frozen cells.
