Dr. Abdul Rahman Khalifa Al Abdul Salam is an assistant professor in the Computer Department at Sultan Qaboos University. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Utah in the United States. He specializes in applications of artificial intelligence and natural language processing for medical text analysis and information extraction, and has several published researches in this field. Dr. Abdul Rahman received HM Grant for Strategic Research in 2022 to develop artificial intelligence algorithms that collect and extract data from medical records in order to help automate cancer records. He also received research funding from the Ministry of Higher Education in 2023 to study machine translation of the Omani dialect from social media.
